A day in the life...

It's funny how dependent we get on a regular schedule. This is often how Amie's day goes:

Good Morning!
Amie is not what you'd call a morning person. She likes to take her time to wake up. I usually let her talk to herself for a few minutes before going to get her. She definitely doesn't like being rushed, so we just change her and leave her P.J's on for a bit and convince her to leave her soother and blankie in the crib. She is loving her crib, and I don't see her wanting to get into a bed anytime soon. We then go downstairs and watch Barney if she's up early enough, or another kids' show. She usually wants to stay cuddled up on my lap, with a drink of juice and a 'snack' - dry cheerios or dry mini wheats (yuk) for at least 20 minutes.

Amie usually has to be up 30 min to an hour before she's ready to eat breakfast. She still has her morning, wake-up face on!
She plays downstairs in the living room for most of the morning, and she gets dressed when she goes back upstairs to be changed.

Sometimes in the afternoon we sit at the table and make a craft together. Anything that can be squeezed out is great fun. She also loves scraps of paper.

We're trying to sit on the potty a couple times a day to get used to the idea. She will sit, but won't actually use the potty yet. She is really liking the Pull-ups though, with Disney Princesses on them. And everytime we are in a public restroom, she screams "I need to use the bathroom", but of course she doesn't actually go. She gets a sticker for sitting on the potty, so it is fun!

Of course handwashing is great fun too. Somehow she manages to get everything wet!

This day was beautiful out, so we went out on the back deck and she was able to play in her sand table.

After bath, we come out into the living room upstairs to cuddle with dad and have some quiet time. Amie's version of 'quiet time' is not actually quiet most of the time, but it does help her unwind before brushing teeth, storytime, saying her prayers, some songs and finally getting into bed with all her friends. She has already figured out how to stall, and sometimes is very convincing that she 'needs a drink', or if one of the many stuffed animals are not present in the crib there is no chance she will be getting in there. We now do a pre-bedtime scan to make sure everyone is all together!

Pointing - not touching!

It is so hard not to press buttons... Amie points out she is 'pointing' - not touching!

The Somersault

Amie has just learned how to do a somersault! It's funny watching her and seeing how much work it takes to get this feat just right.

The Hirschfeld Visit

Cathy & Gord and the kids visited us 2 weekends ago. It was so great to see them and for Amie to see her cousins and Auntie and Uncle again! She has graduated from calling Gord "Uncie Dord" to Uncle Gord now. We stayed up till after 2 am the first night they arrived - which was way past my bedtime! I think it took me the rest of the week to catch up :)

Amie is wearing the very cute new outfit from the Hirschfelds for her birthday!

James & Amie had a bubble bath together on Saturday night. They had lots of fun playing, and at the end James stood up and Cathy said "are you going to pee?". He didn't, but afterwards, Mike asked Amie if she had fun in the tub with James and apparently the highlight of that was "He Peed!"

James gives Amie a great big hug.

What a cutie!

Head & Shoulders

This video was so cute of Amie singing Head & Shoulders, Knees & Toes.

Jayde's Birthday Party

On Saturday, we went to a birthday party for Amie's friend, Jayde. It was at Let's Play. Amie had so much fun, and we were able to give Jayde one of the robes I made earlier.
The carousel was a big hit and there was a wait to get on it.
Delicious chocolate cupcakes.

They had a separate area for kids 3 and under, which was good. It's funny, there is so much appeal to jump in a big bunch of balls!
